My 2 girlfriends and I wanted to tour Samosir Island, Sumatra on motorbikes. Not knowing how to drive them, we hired 3 local drivers, who we soon figured out must have been tripping on the magic mushrooms the area is famous for.

My driver played games with me speeding up to 100km/h on pot filled roads, racing off so we were alone, turning the lights off when it eventually got dark, teasing me and laughing maniacally in my face when I began to cry from fear and panic.

The point when I gave up and resigned myself to the fact that I was about to die was when he sang to me, “I killed the tourist and then I stole her passport. ”

With that evil laugh he shouted, “You know Caroline. We could have an accident out here now and no one would ever know what happened. They would never even be able to find your body.”

For some reason he didn’t kill me and I returned back to my guesthouse safe and well.

I stormed up to the bar with my friend, ordered a straight vodka – which I never drink – bordered myself up in the room for the night, and caught the first early morning ferry out of there.

I know. I quickly learned to dry up those tears though, he was vicious in using that against me!

Having not spent too much time on motorcycles or scooters, I can only imagine how scary this would be! I have to say, I loved your new song lyrics. I don’t think Clapton will mind at all!!!

I still can’t believe I went from that moment of terror resigning myself to death, to him dropping me off and asking if I wanted to go out for a drink.
You can imagine the barrage of abuse and profanity that came flying out of my mouth!

That must have been terrifying! I know how scary it is to ride on the back of the scooter with my incredible sensible boyfriend, I can’t even imagine (I don’t want to imagine!) how scary this must have been. Makes a good story though!

I think you have to look at it now as a story to tell. I was pretty traumatized after it. It has really effected how I ride on the backs of motorbikes now. I am pretty terrified and feel so vulnerable, even when sensible Craig is driving.
